Friday Night Fliks -- August 20

Date: August 19th, 2010

What's consistent with what we have done is the pizza.  We're also starting at 6:00PM,the regular time.  Then we have choices; do we go to movies in the neighborhood of the Civitas office or do we see either "Iron Jawed Angels" or "The Most Dangerous Man in America" on DVD in the luxurious Civitas office; 10845 Olive, Suite #155; 63141.

High School Teacher Meeting This Saturday (MS Pulitzer too)

This Saturday, August 21, we will have a one hour meeting with high school teachers as well as those at the middle school level who are involved in the Pulitzer Global Gateway program.  It will be from 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM at the Civitas office; 10845 Olive, Suite #155; Creve Coeur, MO  63141 (map).  We'll cover the variety of programs this year which includes discussion group, model U.N., February Conference, Active Citizenship, Urban Go-Team 2011, Friday Night Fliks, and more.  We'll also bring you up-to-date on Pulitzer info.

Robin Hood this Friday evening

He may be robbing from the rich to give to the poor, or he may be leading a Tea Party revolt against high taxes, but the latest version of Robin Hood with Russell Crowe promises to be an exciting evening for Civitas students. We'll meet at 6:00 PM this Friday, May 21, at the Civitas office for pizza and then head to the closest theater showing the film (most likely the Creve Coeur Cinema). Students can be picked up at Civitas between 10:00 PM - 10:30 PM. Those interested can sign-up on the Civitas web site or on Facebook.

Discussion Group on Sat., March 20

The eleventh discussion group of the 2009-2010 school year will feature a wide range of topics (primarily of the students' choosing) and an update on plans of the Coalition for Coexistence that was created at February's genocide conference.

The discussion is at Crossroads School, 500 DeBaliviere, 63112 (map) from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM.

Charlie Wilson's War Goes On

Despite Wednesday's death of former Texas Congressman Charlie Wilson, ActiveCitizen360 will still be showing the movie "Charlie Wilson's War" this Friday, Feb. 12 at Civitas (6:00 PM - 9:00 PM).  At last report, actor Tom Hanks who plays Charlie Wilson in the film, is still with us.

Jan. 8 & 9 activities canceled

Date: January 7th, 2010

Due to the fairly fierce weather, we will not show the movie, "The Interpreter," this Friday night (Jan. 8).  Instead we will show it on Friday, Jan. 15 at the Civitas office.

We are canceling our discussion group at Crossroads this Saturday, Jan. 9.  We have another one scheduled for the next Saturday, Jan. 16.

Civitas has a discussion group Saturday morning, December 19, at Crossroads from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM.  Then we'll head to the Chase-Park Plaza for lunch and to see the movie "Invictus."
