Urban Go-Team 2009
Wednesday, June 10: As part of our in-depth study of jobs and the economy, the third day of Go-Team focused on Illinois. In Collinsville, students met with Melissa Leavy and went on a walking tour to see how Main Street was being redeveloped.
Lunch was at a historic tea house in Granite City. Students had an opportunity to talk to the owner who had previously worked at the nearby steel mill. Afterwards we traveled to the Tri-City Port Authority for a panel of speakers. There we learned more about the closing of the steel mill and how the current economy was affecting local businesses.
